Make a string's first character uppercase
string ucfirst ( string $str )
Returns a string with the first character of str
capitalized, if that character is alphabetic.
Note that 'alphabetic' is determined by the current locale. For instance, in the default "C" locale characters such as umlaut-a (ä) will not be converted.
Parameters:
str
The input string.
Returns:
Returns the resulting string.
Examples:
ucfirst() example
<?php $foo = 'hello world!'; $foo = ucfirst($foo); // Hello world! $bar = 'HELLO WORLD!'; $bar = ucfirst($bar); // HELLO WORLD! $bar = ucfirst(strtolower($bar)); // Hello world! ?>
